Minecraft Is Getting Expensive

Minecraft is a game that needs no introduction. Played by millions across the globe, the game is available on a variety of platforms and has a huge fan base. That fan base might not take lightly the fact that Mojang has decided to increase the prices of Minecraft in some regions. It has more to do with economics actually than with Minecraft trying to make more money selling Minecraft. The prices are being changed in some regions to align with the United States Dollar.

Mojang confirmed today that “in the spirit of currency exchange,” it’s bumping up the prices of Minecraft in select regions so that they are properly aligned with the United States Dollar. These new prices will take effect on May 23rd.

The company does point out that this price change applies to Minecraft for PC (the Java version,) and not the Console and Pocket Editions. If you are not planning to buy this game on PC then you don’t have to concern yourself with this price increase.

There’s almost a week between now and May 23rd when the new prices will take effect so if you’re in any of the regions where prices are being increased, and provided that your funds aren’t aligned with the United States Dollar, you can save yourself some money by purchasing Minecraft before the aforementioned date.

Mojang has posted the updated pricing table for all regions on its website.
