Google’s Pixel & Pixel XL Phones To Be Exclusive To Verizon?

verizon signBack when the first iPhone was launched, the handset was pretty much an exclusive to AT&T, which we can only imagine annoyed the heck out of everyone else who wasn’t with the carrier. However could Google be considering making such a move themselves? According to a tweet by Droid-Life, that could be the case.

According to Droid-Life, they have received a tip that suggests that maybe the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones could be exclusive to Verizon. David Ruddock of Android Police has confirmed that they have received a similar tip, although we guess two wrongs doesn’t necessarily make a right, but both Droid-Life and Android Police have pretty good reputations for these sorts of things so maybe there could be some truth there.

That being said before you get too upset, it is possible that the phones are exclusive to Verizon if you are planning on purchasing them via a carrier, and that Google will still sell the phones to customers via their own website. Google has pretty much been selling their Nexus phones via their website for the past few years, and it makes no sense for them to change that up.

After all this is a model that has worked for years for various big players in the industry, such as Apple and Samsung who sell their phones directly to customers, or through carriers for those who want to sign up for a plan at the same time. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully the Verizon exclusive rumors aren’t true for the sake of our readers on other networks.
