Bethesda: Sony Won’t Allow Fallout 4 Or Skyrim Mods On The PS4

fallout-4-mods-xbox-oneSo gamers of Fallout 4 on the PS4 have been waiting for mods support for the longest time ever. Last we heard, Bethesda claims that they were still evaluating the possibility, but as it turns out, it really isn’t in Bethesda’s hands so much as it is Sony’s, at least that’s according to a recent update by Bethesda.

According to a post on the company’s website, they are pretty much blaming Sony for the fact that Fallout 4 mods aren’t available on the PS4 yet. “After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.”

“Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.”

As Bethesda notes, this applies to games like Fallout 4 and also the upcoming Skyrim Special Edition, so if you were hoping for mod support then, you’d be out of luck as well. We’re not sure why Sony is against mods on the PS4, but until they change their mind, gamers will just have to enjoy the game as it is.
