Last week it was rumored that Bethesda could be announcing a remastered version of Skyrim, and the good news for Skyrim fans everywhere is that the rumors are true as a remastered version of the game has been officially announced and will be released later this October across all platforms.

Now in the past we have seen Skyrim mods turn the game into breathtaking works of art, and it seems that Bethesda has certainly taken some cues as the remastered version of the game looks nothing like its original version, which at the time of launch was already considered pretty decent by most standards.

The remastered game will be released on the 28th of October for the PC, Xbox One, and the PS4, and the console versions will also be able to support PC mods so you’ll be able to enjoy the game on another level. No word on pricing just yet but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information.

In the meantime if you’d like to see how the remastered version of Skyrim looks like, check out the announcement trailer above around the 3:18 mark to see the differences between the old and new version of the game.
