Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumored To Feature 3D Touch

galaxy-s7-design_01Unlike Touch ID, which was quickly emulated by smartphone OEMs around the world, Apple’s 3D Touch is a feature that not many companies seem particularly eager to follow. In fact fast forward to today, 3D Touch still isn’t quite as useful as it could be, feeling more novel than functional at the moment.

So far maybe a couple of Android phones have adopted the feature, but for the most part not many are eager to hop on board. However could Samsung be thinking of it? According to a report from The Investor (via PhoneArena), they claim that a tip from an anonymous Samsung supplier has revealed that 3D Touch could be a feature on the Galaxy S8.

Now obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but if you might recall 3D Touch rumors on Samsung devices have persisted for a while with nothing to show for it. In the past patents have been discovered that hints at Samsung’s plans, and there were rumors to suggest that the Galaxy S7, launched earlier this year, could feature the tech, but clearly that never materialized.

Could Samsung have been biding their time to perfect the tech before releasing it? That’s another possibility, but until then we guess it’s still a better idea to take this report with a grain of salt.
