Galaxy S8’s Front Camera Could Feature Autofocus

Samsung-galaxy-S7-Edge-18_900Most smartphone OEMs tend to focus their efforts on developing a strong rear-facing camera, while front-facing camera features usually feel like an afterthought. However with the upcoming Galaxy S8, Samsung could be changing things up by giving the front-facing camera a feature that is pretty rare amongst smartphones: autofocus.

Autofocus, laser autofocus, and phase detection autofocus are terms you hear thrown around when it comes to rear-facing cameras. This makes sense especially when you consider that autofocus isn’t necessarily a key feature you need to have when it comes to grabbing that selfie, and other features like a wider aperture, or wider angle lens, or a larger sensor would be more preferred.

However like we said, Samsung could be changing things up by giving the front camera of the Galaxy S8 autofocusing. We’re not sure how big of a change this will make to the front camera since there are other factors that need to be taken into consideration, but it could still come in handy all the same.

Take this information with a grain of salt for now, but with Samsung facing quite a bit of negativity regarding the exploding Galaxy Note 7s, we guess they’ll really need to wow the crowd with the upcoming Galaxy S8.
