Screenshots From iPhone Appear Wonky On Google’s Pixel Phones

iphone-screenshot-problemIf you take a screenshot on your phone, it is essentially an image. This means that sending images to another device like another smartphone or computer should not be a problem unless the format is proprietary that requires special software to access. So far there have been no issues with phones, or at least that’s until recently.

According to the reports of some users, it seems that iPhone users who are sending screenshots to their friends who have Pixel phones are running into problems. As you can see in the image above, the screenshot when sent to someone on a Pixel phone appears to be glitched for some reason.

Also oddly enough this only happens when the screenshots are taken by the iPhone 7 Plus and only the iPhone 7 Plus, meaning that the smaller iPhone 7 does not encounter the same problem. It also seems that the problem is specific to certain apps, like when grabbing a screenshot from SMS/MMS or in Hangouts.

It has been suggested that this could be because of the way image processing is handled in Android 7.1, but that would be odd since it should apply to screenshots in general, not screenshots from certain phone models and from certain apps, right? In the meantime Google’s support staff seems to have acknowledged the problem, but there is no word on when the problem will be addressed. In the meantime it doesn’t seem like too big of an issue and feels more like a minor inconvenience at the moment.
