New Report ‘Confirms’ Galaxy S8 Will Ditch Headphone Jack

galaxy-note-7-design_28-home-buttonOne of the rumors we have heard in the past is that Samsung will follow in the footsteps of other OEMs, such as Apple, and ditch the headphone jack in the Galaxy S8. Whether not that is true remains to be seen, but it looks like those rumors are persisting as SamMobile now claims that they can “confirm” that the reports are true.

According to SamMobile, they claim that they have confirmed that Samsung will be removing the 3.5mm headphone jack in the phone, and will be turning to USB-C for both power and headphone connectivity. This means that just like all the other phones out there, charging your phone and listening to music at the same time will not be possible.

However given that in the past we have seen wireless charging accessories and support from Samsung, this isn’t quite as big a deal compared to the iPhone which is still 100% reliant on wired charging (unless you were to take third-party accessories into account). There is also the option of using a Bluetooth headset if you’re so inclined, and in recent times we’re starting to see more options from headphone makers, so hopefully maybe this isn’t as bad as you think it’s going to be.
