If you like playing Gears of War 4 then you’re going to have a lot of fun this weekend. Microsoft has confirmed that the Gears of War 4 cross-platform multiplayer is going to go live this weekend. This is part of a test which will enable Microsoft to see how competitive play between PC and Xbox One gamers works out. Developer The Coalition is of the view that this limited trial could eventually lead to permanent support for cross-platform multiplayer.

It will be interesting to see how the Gears of War 4 cross-platform multiplayer weekend works out because PC and Xbox One have different dynamics. PC gamers tend to go with the keyboard and mouse combination which is as accurate as it can get while console gamers are limited to a controller and need to be backed up by aim assist.

So it’s going to be fun to see how two sets of players on completely different platforms take on each other when competitive multiplayer goes live for Gears of War 4 this weekend. The developer calls on players on participate in this trial run so that it’s able to make an informed next step regarding permanent support for cross-platform multiplayer.

Detailed playlist settings and further information about the trial weekend are available on the Gears of War 4 forum. The basics include having an Xbox One or a PC that’s running Windows 10.
