YouTube Loophole Lets Porn Pirates Stash Adult Content For Free

You need unlimited storage and a lot of bandwidth if you’re looking to upload videos to your own website. This isn’t a problem for most people because they can just as easily upload their videos on YouTube, which is free, and just embed it on their website. Google takes care of the rest. You can’t do that with porn because YouTube doesn’t allow adult content but porn pirates are taking advantage of a loophole in the world’s biggest online video website to stash adult content on YouTube for free.

Several adult content streaming websites have started using a loophole that lets them store adult content on YouTube’s servers for free. They do that by taking advantage of YouTube’s option to upload content without sharing it publicly.

They receive a private link for those videos which can also be embedded on any website on the internet. This enables them to have adult content hosted on YouTube, unlisted, while it’s served directly from the GoogleVideo.com domain on their adult websites.

Since the videos are not shared publicly, it’s harder for YouTube’s automated copyright infringement to catch the stolen content. The porn industry has taken note of this practice as well.

While the stolen content is eventually removed, it takes quite a bit longer than usual to process those takedown requests. Many porn studios are now calling on YouTube to do away with the private sharing feature completely.

Whether or not YouTube will do that remains to be seen, it’s not like this feature is exclusively used by porn pirates, legitimate users make use of it often as well.
