Facebook 360 Live Streaming Now Open To All Users

It has long been possible to broadcast a live stream on Facebook so that your followers can see where you’re at and what you’re up to. It has also been testing Live 360 which basically allows users to do the same thing but by using a 360 degree camera. Facebook today confirmed that it has opened up 360 degree live streams to all users. They just need to have the right equipment for it.

You can either use professional gear like Nokia’s Ozo camera or the Insta360 Nano and Air or even the new Gear 360 camera from Samsung to broadcast 360 degree video live to Facebook.

All you need to do is configure the camera with your smartphone as per the manufacturer’s instructions and then decide who you want to stream to. Once that’s done, insert a description and go live. It’s as simple as that.

Those who have tuned into the 360 degree live stream can see it from all angles by just rotating their phones. If they want a properly immersive experience they can stick their phone inside a virtual reality headset like the Gear VR, Google Daydream View or watch it on the Oculus Rift.

Facebook has added spatial audio to make sure that the entire experience feels more immersive. This means that viewers will be able to experience 360 degree sound just as they would in real life.
