Galaxy S8, S8+ Spotted At The FCC

If the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a phone that you’ve been waiting for, then you know that in a few weeks you should find out all the official details as Samsung is expected to make the official announcement on the 29th of March. However as for a release, that’s still pretty much up in the air.

However the good news is that it looks like the phone is one step closer to being released in the US as both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have recently been sighted at the FCC. For those unfamiliar about this process, basically devices that are sold in the US have to gain FCC approval before they do, so with Samsung putting both handsets through the FCC it means that when the time comes to selling it, it should already have cleared all the necessary regulatory hurdles.

While the FCC filing does not mention either handset by name, they do reference the model numbers SM-G950 and the SM-G955. These are apparently the model numbers for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ respectively. It should also be noted that the model numbers indicate that these phones are the unlocked model which means that they should be usable on most carriers in the US.

Pricing has yet to be determined but a recent tweet has suggested that the phones might be more expensive than their predecessors. Availability has yet to be confirmed as well but last we heard, it apparently is set for a release on the 28th of April, about a week later than previously mentioned.
