Unlike other Blizzard games, Overwatch does not have a Starter’s Edition or a trial, meaning that gamers will need to purchase the game outright to play it, or maybe try it at the home of a friend to see if they like it. Not exactly the most convenient, but that’s the way it is for now. However if you’ve been meaning to check it out, you might want to free up this weekend.
This is because Blizzard has announced that as part of Overwatch’s anniversary, they will be hosting a free weekend event which will run from the 26th to the 29th of May. According to Blizzard, “From May 26–29, we’re calling on all prospective agents: assemble your team and dive in during the Overwatch Free Weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One!”
They add, “For this free weekend, we’re making Overwatch’s full roster of 24 heroes and 14 maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Arcade. Players will also have the ability to level up, earn Loot Boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options.”
Players who ultimately decide that they would like to purchase the game will also be able to continue their progress, meaning that you can just pick up where you left off and don’t have to worry about starting from scratch.
