BlackBerry KEYOne Units With Strengthened Displays Out Now

The BlackBerry KEYOne is the first proper smartphone that TCL has made ever since it was made the exclusive manufacturing partner for the Canadian company. BlackBerry is no longer making its own handsets, TCL is doing that and it’s using the company’s brand. Their new device faced a minor issue right out the gate but that has now been addressed.

Soon after the BlackBerry KEYOne was released, a durability test of the handset revealed that there wasn’t enough adhesive at the back of the display. This caused the display to pop out of the handset if it was expressed to significant external forces.

Other real-world durability tests revealed that while the display didn’t have a lot of adhesive at the back, it was enough to keep the display secure during normal use.

Nevertheless, BlackBerry and TCL both said that they would start shipping units with strengthened displays that have extra adhesive on the back. They also offered to replace units for customers who weren’t satisfied.

According to reports, the new units of the BlackBerry KEYOne that are available from retailers and carriers across the globe right now have additional adhesive so that should address any lingering concerns that customers have. BlackBerry and TCL are still offering to replace units for customers who already own a BlackBerry KEYOne.
