According to Square Enix’s recent announcement, they have revealed that Final Fantasy XIV is now home to more than 10 million registered players worldwide across both the PS4 and PC platforms. However we should note that this includes all registered accounts since the launch of the game and those who registered for the free trial, which means that in terms of how much the game is making from subscriptions is unclear.
Also this is the total number of players who are registered, versus how many players are actually active, which would be an interesting figure to know since Blizzard’s World of Warcraft is still considered by many as the MMORPG to beat in terms of monthly active players. The game’s expansion Stormblood was released last month which adds two new job classes along with an increase in the level cap, new high level raids, and more.
If you are curious about the game, you can head on over to its website and sign up for a free trial which will let players play up to level 35 with no time restrictions.
