Foxconn Exec Reportedly Reveals Some iPhone 8 Details

We’re pretty sure that given how long Apple and Foxconn have been working together that the latter company is very familiar with the way Apple does things, and also how much the company values their secrets. Oddly enough this hasn’t stopped Foxconn execs over the years to drop hints here and there regarding Apple’s upcoming products.

In fact according to a report from MyDrivers (via 9to5Mac), they had spotted a post on Weibo (which has since been deleted) made by Foxconn exec Luo Zhongsheng, in which he reveals some details about the upcoming iPhone 8. According to the post, it seems that Luo was talking about the OLED displays that would be used with the iPhone 8.

He claims that the iPhone 8 will not be cheap as yields of the OLED display are low, with a failure rate of 40%. Apparently this is due to the “special design”, which has since been speculated to be the notch in the top part of the screen that houses the speaker unit and front-facing camera (and rumored 3D laser scanners for facial recognition).

While we suppose the post does seem more legit coming from Foxconn, we can’t say for sure if it is accurate until Apple actually announces it, so do take it with a grain of salt for now.
