Alleged iPhone 8 Display Component Leaked

By now and given how close we are to the iPhone 8 being announced, we more or less know what the phone is going to look like. The handset is rumored to sport a full screen bezel-less display with a weird notch on the top of the display which supposedly houses the earpiece, front camera, and a potential 3D scanning camera for facial recognition.

Now thanks to a photo that has been uploaded to Slashleaks (via MacRumors), the alleged display component for the iPhone 8 has been leaked and it seems to confirm what we know so far. As you can see in the image above, the display in question certainly looks like what we have been hearing about in the rumors and seeing in the leaked photos and renders to date.

The photo also shows off some of the internal components, like the flex cable and components for the Lightning connector, none of which appear to be too surprising. However what’s missing is any indication that there could be Touch ID embedded underneath the display, which once again seems to “confirm” that the iPhone 8 could drop the feature in favor of facial recognition.

Of course it’s hard to tell how authentic this photo is or whether the component in question actually belongs to the iPhone 8, so as is the case with leaks and rumors, do take it with a grain of salt for now. Apple has yet to officially confirm when the phone will be launched, but it is expected that it should take place in September, assuming Apple keeps to tradition.
