New Nissan Leaf Seen In Leaked Images

It’s no secret that Nissan has a new all-electric car in the pipeline. The 2018 Nissan Leaf hasn’t been unveiled officially as yet but it appears that the first leaked images of the car have surfaced online today. The new Leaf is an important vehicle for Nissan as the company seeks to regain its position in the electric car market that has come under increasing pressure from the likes of Chevrolet and Tesla.

The images have been tweeted out by someone how claims to be an employee at a Nissan-related facility. While it’s common to see leaked image of upcoming vehicles, it’s not that common to see images being leaked from the factories where they’re built.

“I discovered the new Leaf on the inspection line at the Oppama plant,” the leak’s source tweeted. Fans are divided about the look of the new Nissan Leaf with some suggesting that it’s too little too late, that it won’t be enough to beat Tesla.

The Nissan Leaf was actually the best-selling electric car in the United States back in 2014. Since then, it has dropped behind the Tesla Model S, Model X, and the Chevy Bolt. Nissan has a lot of ground to regain if it wants to be on the top of that list again.

It’s not going to be easy, given that Tesla is out with its mass-market all-electric car, the Model 3, now.
