Ricoh Theta V 360-Degree 4K Camera Announced

#IFA2017 – These days taking just “normal” photos aren’t enough, and with virtual reality becoming more mainstream, the need to be able to take photos and videos in 360-degrees is becoming more necessary than ever. If you’re looking to create VR content, then you might be interested to learn that Ricoh has recently announced the Theta V 360-degree camera.

Note that this is not the first time that Ricoh has dabbled in VR because earlier this year, the company unveiled a 360-degree camera, so in reality the Theta V is not the first VR-capable camera by the company. However unlike the previous model, the Theta V is capable of capturing 4K footage which should help make 360-degree videos a bit more realistic due to the added details.

However in addition to being able to capture photos and video, the Theta V is also capable of spatial audio recording, high-speed image transfer, and is also capable of wireless remote playback, which Ricoh claims is the world’s first for a 360-degree camera. Of course whether or not you need such features is up to you, but Ricoh will be accepting pre-orders for it right away.

For those who are interested, the Ricoh Theta V is priced at $430 and will be available for pre-order via Ricoh’s website.
