Apple’s iPhone X Could Ship With A Newer Build Of iOS 11

Whenever Apple launches a new iPhones, it’s pretty much a guarantee that the new iPhone will be shipped with the latest build of iOS. In the case of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, they are expected to ship with iOS 11 which is expected to be released on the 19th of September, but for the iPhone X, Apple could ship it with a newer build.

According to a recent sighting on Geekbench (via BGR), an iPhone was spotted running on iOS 11.1, which presumably is the next major update expected for the iOS 11 software. The benchmark does not mention the iPhone by name, but rather it refers to the handset as the “iPhone 10,6”, which when you think about how the iPhone 8 Plus is the “iPhone 10,5”, it makes sense that this is the iPhone X.

At the moment we’re not sure what kind of changes or new features will be part of iOS 11.1, but it shouldn’t be surprising that Apple might have an update that they’re already working on. It wasn’t too long ago that the iOS 11 GM was leaked, meaning that iOS 11 is already more or less done and Apple’s focus should be on future updates.

That being said, the iPhone X is only slated for a release on the 3rd of November, which means that for Apple to release iOS 11.1 then wouldn’t really be that much of a stretch, but either way we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are currently available for pre-order.
