Netflix HDR Playback Enabled For LG V30 And Sony Xperia XZ Premium

Netflix has a growing library of HDR content that its subscribers can also access if they own a supported smartphone that has a display compatible with the HDR standard. Netflix has gradually been rolling out support for HDR content on several platforms. It has now done the same for LG’s new flagship smartphone, the LG V30, and the Xperia XZ Premium from Sony.

There aren’t a lot of Android-powered smartphones that have support for HDR content on Netflix. LG’s G6 is the only other Android smartphone that has received support so far. Other Android-powered platforms like the Chromecast Ultra and NVIDIA Shield already have HDR support for Netflix.

Having a compatible smartphone is the main pre-requisite but it’s not the only one. Subscribers who pay for the most expensive premium Netflix subscription are the ones that can stream HDR content. They also require an internet connection that’s faster than 25mbps in order to stream HDR content.

Netflix has updated its support page for HDR-compatible devices to reflect that the LG V30 is also support for HDR content streaming. LG unveiled the V30 at its IFA 2017 event earlier this week. The company’s new flagship smartphone will be released to customers in the very near future.
