Xiaomi Launches The Most Powerful Android One Smartphone

Google unveiled its Android One program a couple of years ago. The idea was to increase Android’s reach in emerging markets by partnering with OEMs to create affordable mid-range devices that run on stock Android. Google has now teamed up with Xiaomi on a new Android One handset. It happens to be the most powerful Android One smartphone on the market today.

Xiaomi today unveiled its Mi A1 smartphone in India. It costs the equivalent of $234 in the country. This is significantly more than the $50 price tags we’ve seen for previous Android One handsets but then again, you get what you pay for.

Customers will get a bonafide mid-range Android smartphone for this much money. The Xiaomi Mi A1 features a 5.5 inch full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

This is packaged inside a full metal body that also features a 12 megapixel dual camera system, a 5 megapixel front camera, and a stock version of Android Nougat. It will receive Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of this year.

Xiaomi Mi A1 isn’t going to be exclusive to India. The Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the Mi A1 is going to be released in 40 markets across the globe, including but not limited to Mexico, Hong Kong, Russia, Poland, Taiwan, Ukraine, and others.
