2018 iPhones Rumored To Feature Some iPhone X Features At Lower Price

With Apple introducing a new family of iPhones in the iPhone X, one has to wonder what this means for 2018 onwards. Will Apple eventually phase out the older iPhone models that still retains a physical home button, or will Apple continue to push multiple families of iPhone models?

It seems that the former could be a possibility, but it won’t be happening so quick as it sounds like Apple will be making the transition gradually. A report from China’s Economic Daily (via AppleInsider) has revealed that Apple could have two iPhones in the works for 2018 that could borrow some, not all, of the iPhone X’s features but be sold at a lower price. The handsets in question are said to be codenamed “Lisbon” and “Hangzhou”.

As to how much cheaper they could be, Japanese publication Macotakara has suggested that we could be looking at around a $90 decrease, which means that prices of the new iPhones could start at around $900, versus $999 which is the base price of the iPhone X. It is also unclear what this means for the iPhone X itself.

It was not mentioned as to what kind of features are expected to be borrowed from the iPhone X, but we have heard rumors that have suggested that Apple is looking to bring Face ID onto future iOS devices, so that’s one possibility, but either way take it with a grain of salt for now as it is probably still a bit too early to tell.
