2018 iPad May Tout A New Design, Facial Recognition

It’s about time that Apple launched a new high-end tablet and according to a new report today, the company is working on a redesigned flagship tablet for 2018. The 2018 iPad is reportedly going to come with significant design changes. It might also be the first iPad without a Home button as it’s reportedly going to feature Face ID facial recognition as well.

Bloomberg reports that the 2018 iPad’s design is going to incorporate key iPhone X design elements like slimmer bezels. It may also ditch the Home button in favor of facial recognition.

Even though the iPhone X is the first smartphone from Apple to feature an OLED display, the report mentions that the tablet is not likely to have an OLED display.

Apple is said to be working on at least one new iPad model with a display size similar to the 10.5 inch iPad Pro. It may include Face ID, the facial recognition technology that Apple introduced with the iPhone X.

The scribe mentions that Apple could launch this new high-end iPad early next year, though there’s nothing concrete to back this up right now. Apple hasn’t said anything about its tablet plans so far and the company normally doesn’t comment on such reports.

If Apple is indeed working on a new high-end iPad, we can expect to hear more rumors and reports about it in the coming weeks.
