‘Yeezy Sound’ Might Be Kanye West’s Music Streaming Service

It appears that Kanye West might be getting in on the music streaming game. Following a strained relationship with Jay Z’s Tidal which saw West terminate his exclusivity deal with the streaming service, it seems that West has decided to launch his own music streaming service. A new trademark request on behalf of West has been discovered, West is apparently looking to trademark “Yeezy Sound.”

West was one of the many big artists that jumped on Jay Z’s Tidal music streaming service when it was acquired by the rap mogul. However, the relationship has since gone sour. West claims that the streaming service owes him over $3 million as the exclusivity deal for his recent album The Life of Pablo brought in 1.5 million new subscribers for Tidal.

Now that he has parted ways with Tidal, West might be thinking about launching his own streaming service. The Blast has obtained documents which show that Yeezy Sound is meant for “Streaming of music, audio, images, video and other multimedia content over the internet.”

The trademark filing also mentions online chatrooms, texting services, email and instant messaging services, electronic bulletin boards, and more.

No further information is available about this service right now so it’s unclear if West is merely going to launch a streaming service for his own music or if he’s willing to take on established competitors like Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal.
