Moto E5 Render Leaked, Shows Off Rear-Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Motorola/Lenovo’s Moto E series of smartphones are a low-end offering, so if you’re shopping on a budget then these handsets could be worth taking a look at. Now the last Moto E handset was the Moto E4 and E4 Plus which were unveiled back in June 2017, but it’s not surprising that the company could have new models in the works.

In fact in a post by MySmartPrice, they have shared what appears to be renders of the upcoming Moto E5. In terms of design, Motorola hasn’t really done much to change it from its predecessor and for the most part it looks the same. However one notable change is that Motorola has moved the fingerprint sensor from the front onto the back.

Unfortunately this has left a rather huge gap at the bottom of the phone on the front which is now emblazoned with the Motorola name, but otherwise it does seem a bit awkward. We’re not sure what’s the reason for moving it to the rear, but that’s one of the possible changes that users can expect.

In terms of specs not much is known about the Moto E5, but given that it is a low-end handset we suppose we shouldn’t really expect too much from it. No word on when the phone will be announced, but assuming Motorola is doing an annual refresh, we could be several months away from an official announcement.
