Samsung Galaxy S9 Could Feature Bixby-Guided Phone Setup

Setting a new phone isn’t too difficult, but for those who aren’t too tech savvy, it might seem like a daunting task, especially if you’re switching between brands and aren’t familiar with the new UI that is presented on the phone. However with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9, the company could bring in a little help.

According to the folks at XDA, they have done some digging and found some evidence to suggest that Samsung could turn to their digital assistant Bixby for voice guided phone setup. What this means is Samsung plans to make the entire setup process easier through the use of AI.

The concept of using a digital assistant for guided setup isn’t new because as XDA points out, Microsoft has done something similar with Windows 10 through the use of Cortana, however this would be the first time that a digital assistant is used in a similar manner on mobile devices. For all we know it could spawn a new trend in the future where we might see other companies, such as Google, use Google Assistant to the same effect.

Exactly how Bixby will be used remains to be seen, but the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to be announced on the 25th of February at MWC 2018, so we guess we will find out more then.
