YouTube Live Automatic Captions Enabled

YouTube has made some changes to how viewers interact with and watch live videos on its platform. It’s introducing new ways to watch live videos and interact with the community in real time. One of the changes it has made included automatic captions. The new live automatic captions feature will enable creators to use a quick and inexpensive way to make their live streams accessible to more people thanks to YouTube’s live automatic speech recognition technology.

YouTube has rolled out chat replay for live videos today. This means that viewers can follow a live chat even after the video over. Live chat replays will show up alongside the video in the same manner as they as appeared live.

YouTube added automatic captions in 2009 and it has auto-captioned more than one billion videos since then. The service is now added English automatic captions to live streams. This feature will let creators make their live streams accessible to more people when professionally provided captions aren’t available.

The company says that its live automatic speech recognition technology provides captions with error rates and latency “approaching industry standards.” This feature will be rolled out widely in the coming weeks and the accuracy and latency will continue to be improved.

Last but not the least, creators can now add a location tag to their mobile live stream and video uploads to share their favorite spots with their viewers. Other videos with the same location tag can also be explored by clicking on the location tag.
