Future Xbox Consoles Could Sport GDDR6 RAM

We’re not sure when Microsoft is expected to introduce the next Xbox. After all it wasn’t too long ago that the Xbox One X was launched, which means that we’re probably a couple of years away at the very least from seeing anything new. However this doesn’t mean that Microsoft isn’t already working on something.

In fact according to a post on the ResetEra forums, it appears that Microsoft could be hiring for their next Xbox console. This is based on a job listing on Microsoft’s website in which Microsoft is calling for a Senior Electrical Engineer with regards to the DRAM on the console. The job description reads, “We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Engineer to lead the DRAM solutions for the Xbox console hardware development team.  DRAM solutions include DDR3, GDDR5, GDDR6 and future DRAM technologies.”

It also says, “The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for existing and leading-edge memory technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects.  The focus will be integrating the right memory solutions into the console based on a variety of constraints such as power, cost, reliability, signal integrity and performance requirements.”

Like we said given that the Xbox One X has been launched, there won’t be a new Xbox for at least the next couple of years, but this job listing does hint that Microsoft is already working on something. Whether or not this will be a completely brand new Xbox or if it will be an upgraded Xbox One X is anyone’s guess.
