Tesla Model X Effortlessly Tows A Boeing 787 Dreamliner [Video]

The Tesla Model X is a very capable crossover vehicle. It can do a lot of things such as mesmerize you with its Falcon doors or drive you by itself under select conditions. What you may not have known is that the Model X is also capable of easily towing a real Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner airplane even though it has an advertised towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

This isn’t the first time that the Tesla crossover has exhibited its impressive towing capabilities. A video surfaced earlier this year of a Model X towing a semi-truck up a hill that was covered in snow.

The short video that you see above of a Tesla Model X towing a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner belonging to Qantas is actually a marketing stunt by the Australian airline and a pretty cool one at that. This happened at a remote taxiway at Melbourne Airport where a Tesla Model X P100D came face to face against the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which is the latest addition to the Qantas fleet.

As you can probably imagine, the airplane weighs much more than the Model X and exceeds its towing capacity by quite a margin. With cargo and passengers onboard, a Dreamliner can easily weigh a couple of hundred thousand pounds. The Model X towed the airplane for almost 1,000 feet seemingly without breaking a sweat.
