Japan Enlists Major Companies For Operational Flying Cars

Japan wants operational flying cars to be available in the country in the next decade and for this purpose, it has enlisted some of the world’s top companies that are already working on flying cars. The companies that form part of the group that will receive support from the government include the likes of Uber, Boeing, Airbus, Toyota-backed startup Cartivator, and others. The group will initially be comprised of 21 businesses and organizations.

Bloomberg reports that this government-led group will work to bring flying cars to Japan in the next decade. A statement from the trade ministry in Tokyo has confirmed that 21 businesses and organizations will be part of this group initially. Delegates from these companies will meet on August 29th to put together a road map for the way forward.

“The Japanese government will provide appropriate support to help realize the concept of flying cars, such as creation of acceptable rules,” the ministry said in a statement.

Many of the companies in this group have already been seriously working on flying cars. Uber’s work on flying cars is well documented while companies like Airbus and Boeing are using their aviation expertise to usher in the age of vehicles capable of vertical take-off and landing.
