AT&T’s Mobile 5G Will Arrive In Five Additional Cities This Year

AT&T had previously confirmed a handful of cities that would receive its mobile 5G service before the end of this year. The carrier today confirmed the remaining cities on the list. These five additional markets will receive the carrier’s mobile 5G service by the end of this year. They join the seven for which AT&T has already confirmed mobile 5G plans for.

AT&T confirmed today that it’s going to launch the service in Houston, Jacksonville, Louisville, New Orleans, and San Antonio this year. The other cities for which it has already announced plans include Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, Raleigh, and Waco.

The carrier says that the 5G momentum will carry forward into the new year as it plans to introduce mobile 5G in parts of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. This will bring the total number of markets where this service will be available to 19 and AT&T says that it will continue to expand from there in subsequent months.

AT&T won’t be the only carrier expanding its 5G network in different markets across the country next year. All major carriers have 5G plans for 2019 and smartphone manufacturers will be responding to the shift in network technology by releasing devices that are fully capable of taking advantage of 5G cellular networks.
