Netflix Still Interested In Stranger Things Game Despite Telltale’s Closure

Last week it was reported that Telltale Games would be shutting down and in the process, they have laid off the majority of their staff. Many wondered about the state of the company’s ongoing projects, one of which included a Stranger Things game based on the Netflix series, but there is some good news as it seems that Telltale’s closure has not affected Netflix’s interest in such a game.

In a statement made to Polygon, Netflix said, “We are saddened by news about Telltale Games. They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”

It is unclear what kind of options we are looking at, maybe it could be developed by another studio, but regardless it seems that the game will still be developed. It is also unclear as to whether or not this will result in the game being delayed (there was no launch date mentioned in the original announcement), but we wouldn’t be surprised if there was.

Unfortunately not all games were lucky enough as it was previously reported that Telltale’s The Walking Dead might not get to live out the final season as it is expected to come to an end after the second episode from the final season is released.
