The Verizon Moto Z2 Play Oreo update is finally being rolled out. Those who own this device should now look forward to receiving an over-the-air update notification soon. The handset is now receiving the much-awaited Oreo update which brings a handful of new features in addition to many user interface improvements.

The device is finally being moved up from Nougat to Oreo even though that’s no longer the most recent version of Android. That’s the stage of fragmentation on Android and there’s nothing that users can really do about that. At least owners can find solace in the fact that the Oreo update is finally out for the Verizon Moto Z2 Play.

All of the new features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo are included in this update which has version number ODS27.76-12-42. These include features like picture-in-picture support. Many user interface improvements are onboard as well. The update comes with the Android security patch for the month of September.

Moto Z2 Play owners should soon be receiving an update notification on their device informing them that Oreo is now available for download. They can also head over to the device’s Settings app and go to the System updates menu to get the update for their handset manually.
