Microsoft Office Is Finally Available From The Mac App Store

Say you want to download Microsoft Office on your MacBook. The first place you’d think about hitting up would be the Mac App Store. The only problem was that the company’s popular productivity suite wasn’t distributed through the store. That changes today. Microsoft Office is now finally available from the Mac App Store.

“Apple and Microsoft have worked together to bring great Office productivity to Mac users from the very beginning. Now, with Office 365 on the Mac App Store, it’s easier than ever to get the latest and best version of Office 365 for Mac, iPad and iPhone,” said Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller.

This has been due for a few months now. Microsoft had previously confirmed that it would have the Office apps listed on the Mac App Store by the end of 2018. That obviously didn’t happen but at least it has been able to follow through on its promise a few weeks into the new year.

There’s nothing new about the versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive that are now listed on the Mac App Store. They’re the same apps which were previously available from Microsoft’s website. The only difference is that it’s now much easier to get them on your Mac.

Another benefit of them being listed on the Mac App Store is that these apps will now be updated automatically through the store instead of having to go through Microsoft’s standalone AutoUpdate tool that was normally used to update Office for Mac.
