Netfix Actually Needs To Warn People Not To Walk Around Blindfolded

Even if you haven’t seen Netflix’s Bird Box (which was viewed by over 45 million accounts), the trailers, posters, and teasers all seem to depict actress Sandra Bullock being blindfolded. This is because of the movie’s premise in which if you see the monster, you will die, thus being blindfolded is the best way to survive.

Unfortunately it seems that the movie has spawned a meme and challenge where people are walking around blindfolded. This is obviously a rather bad idea but yet people are doing it, so much so that Netflix had to actually issue a warning on Twitter where they are asking people to stop walking around blindfolded.

According to the company’s tweet, “Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”

We have seen multiple challenges in the past that have ended with bad consequences for those who took part in them. For example at one point in time there was a “pass out challenge” where teens strangled themselves until they fell unconscious. Then there was also the cinnamon challenge which had the potential of being choked to death. Suffice to say that these are not problems Netflix wants on their conscience.
