FCC Confirms At Least Three LG G8 ThinQ Models

At MWC 2019, LG will be officially unveiling its upcoming handset, the LG G8 ThinQ. The company has actually been slowly teasing the features of the phone, such as its sound-on display, and now a recent sighting at the FCC has confirmed that there will be at least three variants of the phone.

The model numbers spotted at the FCC include the LM-G820UM, LM-G820TM, and LM-G820QM. Not much is known about these variants at the moment, but it has been speculated that there is a chance that the first two models could simply be for unlocked models, while the latter model could be a model designated for CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon.

This actually makes perfect sense as we imagine that the LG G8 ThinQ will be launched across all the different carriers in the US, so having different models that play nicely with the different radios used by the carriers is to be expected. Other than the model numbers, the FCC filing doesn’t actually tell us the specs of the phone or its features.

However if the rumors are true, we’re looking at the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, along with anywhere between 6-8GB of RAM (or maybe more). Judging by the leaked renders, there will also be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a dual camera setup, and a notched display on the front.
