2019 iPhones Could Finally Ship With An 18W Charger

In case you didn’t know, Apple’s iPhones in recent years have started to support fast charging. Unfortunately, Apple’s method of fast-charging is an expensive one as it means that customers will need to buy a separate, more high-powered charger (unless you happen to own the 2018 iPad Pro or a MacBook computer).

It was rumored last year that Apple could start to ship an 18W charger with the iPhone XS and XS Max, but clearly that did not pan out. Now according to a report from Mac Otakara, the publication claims that Apple will be doing that for the 2019 iPhones where the handsets will come bundled with an 18W charger.

In addition to the charger, Apple will also start to supply a USB-C to Lighting cable which will then connect to the charging brick. This also means that unlike the 2018 iPad Pros that adopted USB-C over Lightning, it seems that Apple won’t be so quick to use the technology for their iPhones just yet.

That being said, it’s not really an issue and actually the USB-C end will be more useful since Apple has done away with older USB ports in its new MacBook computers, a change that we wouldn’t be surprised if it extended to the iMac in the future as well.
