One of the rumored new features of 2018’s iPhone is that apparently there is a chance that Apple could bundle an 18W USB-C fast charger with the handset. At the moment Apple’s iPhones do support fast charging, but customers will need to buy a separate charger which isn’t bundled with the iPhones.

However the rumors claim that this year’s iPhones will come bundled with the new USB-C fast charger, but the bad news is that it looks like you will need to buy the new iPhone if you want to get your hands on it. In a report from Mac Otakara, apparently at launch these new 18W chargers will not be available for purchase separately.

This is because Apple might not be able to produce enough units where they will be able to bundle it with the phones and also have enough stock leftover to sell it by itself. We suppose this is somewhat understandable, albeit slightly disappointing if true, but we imagine that over time Apple should eventually get a handle on supply where existing iPhone customers will be able to purchase the charger separately.

Alternatively like we said, customers can resort to existing fast charging methods so there’s that if fast charging is a feature you absolutely need.
