Samsung Will Have A New Launch Date For The Galaxy Fold Soon

As you might have heard, Samsung recently announced the delay of their Galaxy Fold handset. This was following a variety of reports of durability issues which forced Samsung to recall the review units that were sent out. For a while, it also sounded like the company still had no new launch date in sight.

This is according to emails Samsung sent out to customers who ordered the phone where they told customers that they cannot confirm an anticipated ship date yet. However, that seems to have changed because according to a report from The Korea Herald, it quotes Samsung CEO Koh Dong-jin as telling reporters that they expect to have a new launch date to announce in the next day or two.

According to Koh, he was quoted as saying, “(The company) has reviewed the defect caused from substances (that entered the device), and we will reach a conclusion in a couple of days (on the launch).” We should point out that the new launch date will be today or tomorrow, but rather Samsung will be announcing it then, which means that for all we know, we might have to wait a week, two weeks, a month, and so on, but hopefully it won’t take too long.

As it stands, Huawei has yet to officially confirm when their foldable Mate X smartphone will launch as well, but there is a good chance that even with these delays, Samsung will still be able to launch their phone before the competition.
