Huawei Beats Apple To The Punch With Its Own 16-inch Laptop

There have been rumors that Apple is planning on launching a new series of laptops with a 16-inch display. To date, 15-inch seems to be the standard, save for some gaming laptops that have opted for larger 17-inch displays, so a 16-inch laptop could occupy a rather niche space for those who want a larger screen but don’t want to lose portability.

However, it looks like Huawei has beaten Apple to the punch as the company has since announced its latest MagicBook Pro laptops with a 16.1-inch screen. The laptop will feature the use of an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and will also come with an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU with 2GB of RAM. There are also options to configure its storage size to either 512GB or a 1TB SSD.

What’s interesting about this laptop is its built-in webcam. While integrated webcams are pretty common amongst laptop, what Huawei has opted to do with this design is hide it inside of a keyboard key. This means that at a press of a button, the webcam will popup from your keyboard, and when it’s not in use, it can be pushed back in and hidden.

This is great as far as privacy is concerned, especially since we’re seeing more people start to put tapes over their webcams and microphones to help prevent people from potentially hacking into their computers and spying on them. In terms of pricing, Huawei’s new MagicBook Pro will be priced starting at around $710.
