iPhone XR Was The Best Selling Smartphone In The U.S. Last Quarter


The iPhone XR appears to have received a lot of love in the United States. The latest data from Kantar World Panel reveals that it was the best selling smartphone in the country over the second quarter, accounting for 7.8 percent of the market. The top three best selling smartphones in the country last quarter were actually iPhones, the data shows.

According to Kantar’s data, the iPhone 8 and iPhone XS Max make up the top three best selling devices in the country in Q2 2019. Overall, Apple saw its sales share slide in the country as Motorola and Google have mounted a resurgence in this crucial market.

Motorola in particular has been enjoying good momentum in the country. Its sales share was up 3.3 percent compared to a year before. The top performing models were the Motorola E5 and G6 Plus. It was aided by increased distribution as Verizon was the top channel for Motorola’s smartphone sales.

Even though the United States and China are embroiled in a trade spat, iOS’s share actually increased in the People’s Republic this past quarter, reaching 19.7 percent. Huawei still remains the dominant force in its home country, though, with the company and its Honor brand accounting for almost one in every two sales in Urban China last quarter with a 46.1 percent share.
