Netflix Developing ‘Cuphead’ Animated Series

Cuphead is a challenging indie game that has proven to be quite popular in recent years. It has developed its very own cult following so much so that Tesla is now releasing a Cuphead game for its in-car display. So it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that Netflix is now developing an animated series for Cuphead.

The Cuphead game has sold more than four million units worldwide and has won more than 20 major awards. Fans love this title for its arcade-action gameplay and the original art design. The soundtrack which features almost three hours of original jazz is not too bad as well.

Cuphead and Mugman, the protagonists of this title, are headed to Netflix in The Cuphead Show. Netflix has confirmed this new original animated series with Studio MDHR. Hand-drawn visuals are a distinctive and beautiful art style that this game has adopted and the overall aesthetic will work will for an animated series.

Netflix says that the new series is going to expand on the characters and the world of Cuphead with the animation style being inspired by the classic Fleischer cartoons from the 1930s. Netflix Animation will be producing this series which will be a character driven comedy that follows the “unique misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman.”
