Vizio TVs Are Now Receiving Support For AirPlay 2 And HomeKit

Soon after LG started rolling out support for these Apple technologies to its 2019 4K TVs, Vizio is following suit as well. Vizio is one of the companies that was confirmed to bring support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit to its TVs earlier this year. To that end, it’s now rolling out a firmware update for supported TVs.

Vizio has released an update for its SmartCast 3.0 software today which adds support for both AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The update isn’t live for all compatible TV sets immediately, though. The company cautions that it may take a few months for the update to arrive on all compatible models.

AirPlay 2 will make it much easier for Vizio TV owners to play content from a Mac or an iOS device to the biggest screen in their home. They can use HomeKit to control smart objects and even control the TV using Siri voice commands.

There is one advantage that Vizio has over the other manufacturers that are adding support for these features. Its supporting SmartCast TVs going as far back as 2016 so those models will eventually get this update as well. That’s pretty impressive that Vizio decided to extend this so far back and is something that its customers will love it for.
