Google is testing a new subscription service for premium apps and games called Google Play Pass. It will provide subscribers with access to hundreds of premium apps and games for a set price month. They won’t have to worry about any ads or in-app purchases if they’re subscribed to Play Pass.

AndroidPolice has received some screenshots from a reader which show that the company has started testing this new subscription service at a small scale currently. The details of this service are quite like Apple’s Arcade subscription service that’s due to be launched later this year.

Subscribers will be required to pay $4.99 per month which will get them unlimited access to a selection of premium apps and games. They will get access to these apps and games without having to deal with any ads or in-app purchases. The screenshots list some popular titles like Monument Valley, Stardew Valley, Marvel Pinball, and more. A family plan is reportedly in the works as well but it will most likely cost more than the $4.99 individual subscription.

The primary difference compared to Apple Arcade is that the latter only focuses on games with at least some of them being exclusive to Apple’s platform. Play Pass simply offers a selection of premium apps and games that are already available for Android. Google is only testing this service right now so it’s unclear if and when there’s going to be a formal launch.
