mac os catalina

Even though you have to wait for the iCloud Folder sharing feature on macOS Catalina. It is not advisable to upgrade in the first place.

It may not be an issue if you do not use Photoshop, Lightroom, and DJ software tools primarily.

However, if you rely on a lot of apps, we wouldn’t recommend upgrading yet because macOS Catalina will no longer support 32-bit apps. This means there will be a lot of incompatible apps.

The developers are working to make their applications compatible – but it is not happening immediately. So, for this reason, you might lose access to your favorite apps which could affect your potential work.

The warning is not limited to applications like Photoshop and Lightroom – the new update also makes some of the most popular DJ tools like Traktor useless. Technically, macOS Catalina dumps XML file support – which prevents the DJ tools to sort and arrange the playlists.

And, this is not good news for the DJs and photo editors (especially).

Also, with the 32-bit support gone, there will be a lot of applications that may stop working after upgrading your system to macOS Catalina.

We would not suggest upgrading it just yet unless you want to experiment. If you are on a system that is used for production and expected to be reliable – I would advise you to stick to the current version of macOS.

You can choose to hold off the update temporarily or skip it entirely for now (till your favorite apps support it). What are you going to do? Let us know in the comments.
