Netflix To Drop Support For Older Samsung Smart TVs In December

TVs aren’t really devices that we change or upgrade frequently. However, it seems that if you largely rely on your smart TV to access apps like Netflix, then you might want to take note because if you own one of Samsung’s older smart TVs, come December, support for Netflix will be dropped.

According to a statement released by Netflix to Engadget, the company wrote, “On December 2nd, Netflix will no longer be supported on a small number of older devices due to technical limitations. We’ve notified all impacted members with more information about alternative devices we support so they can keep enjoying Netflix uninterrupted.”

According to a message on Samsung’s website, “Netflix has announced that due to technical limitations, as of December 2, 2019, the Netflix streaming service will no longer be supported on several consumer electronics devices, including some from Samsung.” Alternatively, you can check out Netflix’s page to see the list of compatible devices, but basically, according to Samsung, the change will affect select 2010 and 2011 smart TVs. If you own an affected device, you will see a message about it displayed on your screen.

That being said, Samsung notes that all smart TVs produced after 2011 will be unaffected, so for owners of newer Samsung smart TVs, you should be OK.
