Facebook Has A Chatbot That Helps Employees Discuss The Company’s Scandals

Being employed in a huge tech firm like Facebook sounds like it would be the dream of many, and we imagine that is still somewhat true. However, the company has been embroiled in numerous scandals in the recent months and years, meaning that without doubt should you ever mention you work at Facebook, you might be asked for your thoughts on these scandals.

So the question is, how do you handle it? According to a report from the New York Times, it appears that Facebook has created a chatbot named Liam that will apparently help employees navigate the company’s scandals by providing them with various PR talking points. The idea is that these PR talking points will help employees discuss the various incidents at Facebook in a more diplomatic kind of way, without making the company look bad.

Facebook has since confirmed the existence of the chatbot and according to a spokesperson, “Our employees regularly ask for information to use with friends and family on topics that have been in the news — especially around the holidays. We put this into a chat bot, which we began testing this spring”

It is an interesting use of a chatbot and we have to wonder how many employees are taking up Facebook’s offer to use it.
