The problem with shopping for clothing online is determining the appropriate size. This is because sometimes one fashion company’s L might not fit as well as another company’s L, which means that unless you’ve bought from a particular company before, it can be a bit of a mixed bag.

However, to address that problem, Amazon is using virtual body doubles to help you get an idea of how well a t-shirt will fit you. The company has recently launched a custom t-shirt service called Made for You. The service will require users to submit details about yourself, like your measurements, including photos.

This will create a virtual body double which Amazon will use so that you can get an idea of what the t-shirt you’re trying to buy will look like on you. This is actually a great idea as it will be a more accurate representation. Size aside, it also helps you decide if certain styles or colors look better on you.

For those a bit concerned about sharing these details with Amazon, the company has confirmed to Engadget that all your photos are deleted after use, which means that Amazon does not keep them so you don’t have to worry about them leaking or being stolen. Right now the service only offers t-shirts, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this eventually expanded to cover more clothing items.
