Apple’s AirPods Max Over-Ear Headphones Are Here

It has been rumored for a while that Apple is working on a pair of over-ear AirPods. It was initially referred to as the AirPods Studio, but it seems that the name might have been wrongly reported because Apple has since officially debuted the AirPods Max, the company’s first branded over-ears headphones.

While Apple does own the Beats brand, this would make it the first time that we’re seeing a pair of Apple-branded over-ears headphones. As expected, it comes with features such as noise-cancelling technology, similar to what we saw with the AirPods Pro. It also boasts high-fidelity audio, adaptive EQ, and also spatial audio.

According to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, “With AirPods Max, we are bringing that magical AirPods experience to a stunning over-ear design with high-fidelity audio. The custom acoustic design, combined with powerful H1 chips, and advanced software enable AirPods Max to use computational audio to wirelessly deliver the ultimate personal listening experience.”

The AirPods Max will also ship with its own Smart Case that helps protect the headphones while not in use, and also puts it into an ultralow power state to conserve battery in case you don’t want to turn it off. That being said, the AirPods Max does not come cheap as far as headphones are concerned. Priced at $550, these are some of the more expensive headphones we’ve seen, but whether or not it is worth the price remains to be seen.
